Adaptive equipment is a big part of our success. This equipment assists the participants in performing their work. When we get a new job, adaptive devices or jigs are often fabricated out of cardboard and duct tape. Once the device works well for the client, the device is then made out of more durable materials. This approach allows participants, regardless of their disabilities, to increase their job production and earn a bigger paycheck.
Adaptive equipment can include a variety of “lazy Susans” that assist the client with counting, scales that are set up to count objects, jelly switches attached to various pieces of equipment to allow easier operation, inverted staple guns, air hoses to push products to the participants and many other devices. The enthusiasm and pride participants have when they have done a job well is wonderful to behold.
